You don’t get to attack somebody on their missed votes when they’re running for Congress because you did the same thing when you were in the state House, Ashley Hinson, and now you’re missing them in DC. Those who live in glass houses…

BREAKING: “Ashley Hinson Missed Almost 200 Votes in Congress”

American Journal News: “[Hinson] Was Absent for Crucial Committee Decisions on AI Child Porn, Crime, and Health Care”

DES MOINES – A breaking report from American Journal News found Ashley Hinson missed almost 200 votes in Congress, including votes to “crack down on AI-generated child pornography,” several “aimed at reducing violent crime,” and even more to “enforce the Violence Against Women Act.”

In total, Hinson has missed 163 committee votes and 33 floor votes since joining Congress in 2021.

Crucial background on the key votes Hinson missed:

Hinson missed a vote to “increase funding for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.” The goal of this taskforce was to “combat the rise of AI-generated child pornography.”

She missed “several votes aimed at reducing violent crime.”

Hinson missed a block of key votes: “one to boost funding to enforce the Violence Against Women Act, another to increase funding for transitional housing grants for domestic abuse victims, and a third to fund a community-based violence intervention initiative.”

Hinson skipped a vote “funding the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.”

Hinson missed a vote to “address doctor shortages in the Veterans Affairs system,” another to “increase funding for nutrition programs for seniors,” and one to “fund a program that trains physicians in rural areas.”

Hinson missed a vote that would “require data centers to publicly disclose their construction plans and compel the Energy Department to analyze the effect centers have on utility bills.”

And just last month, Hinson “didn’t vote on 11 amendments to the 2027 Defense Appropriations bill because she was attending a fundraiser for her U.S. Senate campaign.”

Iowa Rep. Ashley Hinson missed almost 200 votes in Congress, including one to crack down on AI-generated child pornography.

According to congressional records, Hinson has missed 163 committee votes and 33 floor votes since joining the House in 2021.

Many of Hinson’s missed votes were in the House Appropriations Committee, which determines federal funding for various government programs.

In May 2025, for example, Hinson missed a committee vote to increase funding for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The committee manager said the increase was to combat the rise of AI-generated child pornography and the strain it was putting on law enforcement.

Hinson also missed several votes aimed at reducing violent crime.

In September 2025, she missed three committee votes: one to boost funding to enforce the Violence Against Women Act, another to increase funding for transitional housing grants for domestic abuse victims, and a third to fund a community-based violence intervention initiative.

Hinson also skipped a vote funding the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Hinson missed multiple committee votes related to health care, including a 2023 vote to address doctor shortages in the Veterans Affairs system, a 2025 vote to increase funding for nutrition programs for seniors, and another 2025 vote to fund a program that trains physicians in rural areas.

Hinson missed a vote this year on a sweeping amendment related to data center transparency. It would require data centers to publicly disclose their construction plans and compel the Energy Department to analyze the effect centers have on utility bills.

Last month, it was reported that Hinson didn’t vote on 11 amendments to the 2027 Defense Appropriations bill because she was attending a fundraiser for her U.S. Senate campaign.

Committee votes are often not counted in a legislator’s record, making it appear as though Hinson has above-average attendance despite sitting out these key decisions.

And I specifically remember you hiding in Pat Grassley’s Office during incredibly contentious debates and votes so that you could not be called out to yield to a question —and so that nobody could corner you about your choices. Since I sat directly across from you on the other side of the chamber. That’s how you got the name Hiding Hinson. You have continued that nickname because you refuse to do town halls open to the public and forums open to the public or show up anywhere without state police nearby. And why would you need to do that Ashley? Because you know the choices you’re making hurt the people of Iowa and not just some of them the majority of them. You have mastered the art of lying straight to people’s faces and it’s time for you to go!
