Important Dates:
NOW! - You may register at the County Auditor's Office, M-F, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or register online anytime. You may also print a form to mail here.
Monday, Oct. 19 - Mailed or dropped off voter registration forms must be received by the Elections Office by 5 pm.
Tuesday, Nov. 3 - You may register and vote on election day.
NOTE: If your registration status is "Inactive," the best way to make it "Active" is to vote by mail, vote early, or vote at the polls on election day.

1. Vote by Mail
(Also known as "absentee voting")
Important Dates:
Tuesday, Aug. 25 - Absentee ballot request forms can be submitted to the Auditor's Office at the Black Hawk County Courthouse, 316 E 6th St., Room 213, Waterloo, IA 50703.
Wednesday, Oct. 14 - First day the Auditor's Office will mail absentee ballots to those who asked for one.
Monday, Oct. 19 - Absentee ballot request forms must be received at the Auditor's Office by 5 pm.
Tuesday, Nov. 3 - Absentee ballots must be returned to the Auditor's Office by 8 PM. Mail it back early, put it in the drop box outside the courthouse, or take it inside to the Auditor's Office.
Nov. 3, 2026 - General Election

Vote in-person at the Black Hawk County Auditor's office: 316 E. 5th St., Room 213, Waterloo, IA 50703 beginning 20 days before the election.
2. Vote Early
Important Dates:
Wednesday, Oct. 14 - In-person early voting begins (M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm)
Monday, Nov. 2 - Last day to vote early (8 am to 4:30 pm)
Cast your vote at your assigned polling place on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, 7 am - 8 pm.
