“I Don’t Care About Americans’ Financial Situation” – Donald Trump

Iowa Republican candidate for the US Senate, Ashley Hinson, defended President Trump after the president stated that his priority right now is Iran and not American household budgets.

Hinson said: “I know he cares about American’s financial interests.”

Based on what, Ashley? We are nearly a year and a half past Trump’s election promise that he will immediately bring prices down (and guarantee cheap gas…) and everything has gone up instead. For which there could be some understanding given the quixotic nature of spending and inflationary forces, but Trump has done NOTHING to rein in price gouging or to regulate markets. In fact, he has aggressively pursued tariffs where only wealth sees benefits while consumers pay higher prices and has turned his America First strategy that implied spending on Americans before engaging in nation-building foreign wars, into exactly what he promised not to do. Billions are being spent DAILY on war and from taxpayers’ pockets after his DOGE initiative gutted many programs that actually put Americans first.

Trump has NO understanding of the Americans that Ashley thinks he cares about. More than 40% of Americans report, according to the Census Bureau, that they could not cover a $1,000 unexpected expense with their current cash or savings.

An analysis by the Ludwig Institute for Shared Economic Prosperity found that the bottom 60% of U.S. households do not earn enough to afford basic American "dream essentials" such as childcare and healthcare while maintaining a MINIMAL quality of life.

Survey data consistently shows that nearly half of the population feels the pressure of daily financial worry, with many relying on credit cards and loans just to get through the end of the month.

When their coffee goes from $6 to $11, when their gas increases a dollar or more per gallon, when eggs and milk and nearly everything else is 30% more and week after week they are paying against wages that are flat or certainly not commensurate to rising costs, Americans aren’t (even) breaking even- they are SINKING.

Those who can (40% have little to no savings) dip into what they prayed would help along with their Social Security (that many Republicans hold in contempt), leaving their security in the dumpster.

Trump doesn’t understand those economics. This is more germane to Trump himself than it is about his policy about-face, however. He puts gold leaf around his toilet seat.

So, Ashley…please go back to the news. You were good at reading copy that was given to you…which I guess is what you’re doing still….
