    FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS!

    Monday, June 21, 2010

Terry Branstad is at it again. Every time someone points out the facts about his record, he has only one response: attack the messenger.

Today his campaign has launched yet another ad trying to attack our record, after spending months and millions attacking us to win the primary. Not a single thing he states in his ad about our work is even correct. Why is he grasping at straws to attack us? Because he can't actually defend what he did.

We began running an ad last week stating the truth: Branstad was criticized for keeping two sets of books, he admitted the budget was never balanced, and he raised taxes on hard working Iowans.

Facts are stubborn things and Terry Brasntad doesn't want to face them head on. Watch our ad about Terry Branstad's record then send it to your friends and family and help people learn the facts.  Click on or paset the following address into your browser.

No matter how much Terry Branstad tries to attack, he ends up on the wrong side of the facts. So what does he do when things don't go his way? He attacks and avoids answering real questions about what he did as Governor.

When Democratic Party Chairmain Michael Keirnan questioned his record, Branstad called him a political hack and then never addressed the facts.  During the Republican Primary when Bob Vander Plaats and others brought up his record as Governor, Branstad called them lies and refused to address the facts.

And, now that we are telling the truth about his record, Branstad has gone on the attack again. He is using fuzzy math on spending and taxes and even going so far as to make up budget deficits that don't exist.

Here are the facts: Iowa has a triple-A bond rating from all three rating agencies. The state budget is balanced. The state of Iowa expects to have over $500 million in the bank by July 1. Despite the economic recession, we have not raised taxes on hard-working Iowans.

I have just addressed his attacks head on. But I won't hold my breath for Terry Branstad to do the same, so I need your help.  So
take a minute and watch our TV ad about Branstad's record and send it on to your friends and family.  Facts are stubborn things, but only with your help can we make sure everyone knows them.

Thank you for all your support, and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Sincerely,

Patty Judge
